Vivienne J Zhu, MD, MS

Dr. Vivienne Zhu is an Assistant Professor at Biomedical Informatics Center in Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). She leads efforts of translation the South Carolina statewide health information exchange database to the OMOP Common Data Model and the state clinical phonotype initiative under the South Carolina Clinical and Translational Research Institute. Before she joined MUSC, She was a Senior Informatician at Pharmacoepidemiology, Johnson and Johnson (JNJ) Pharmaceutical starting July 2013, she had been the project lead on translating the National Health and Nutrition Examination into OMOP common data model. She has also been provided epidemiologic analytic collaboration and consultation focused on patient safety, clinical trial feasibility assessment studies. These work result several publications in Patient Safety, American Heart Journals, and BMC Research Notes, as well as presentations at American Medical Informatics Association. Before she joined JNJ, Vivienne was most recently an Assistant Research Professor at Regenstrief Institute, Indiana and a core investigator at Diabetes Translational and Research Center, School of Medicine Indiana University. She developed, implemented, and evaluated multiple HIT projects for preventive health and chronic disease management.
