Senior Software Developer
Northwestern University Applied Research Informatics Group

I am a health informatics programmer in the Northwestern Applied Research Informatics Group. My main focus has been on building solutions for the integration of data extracted from the Northwestern Medicine Electronic Data Warehouse (NMEDW) with curated data. I have worked on applications for the retrieval, extraction, normalization and curation of cancer, pathology and movement disorder data.

I have built the OMOP Abstractor Ruby on Rails application for deriving discrete data points from narrative text via natural language processing (NLP). The application includes a user interface to present suggestions for confirmation/revision by a curator and supports presenting the mix of abstracted data with non-abstracted data. The application is built on top of the OMOP clinical data model.

I have used the OHDSI OMOP CDM as a normalization format for the support of oncology clinical research and quality repositories. To help expand the OHDSI OMOP CDM’s capability to represent oncology data, I have been an active member of the OHDSI OMOP CDM Oncology workgroup. I am a co-author of the Oncology CDM Extension Proposal. I also support the implementation of the OMOP CDM for Northwestern’s participation within the All of Us Research program.
