Laura Hester is a Manager of Epidemiology with a focus in using administrative and registry data to examine the natural history, treatment, and outcomes of patients with cancer. Specifically, she develops methods for using administrative data to study immunochemotherapy safety and effectiveness in indolent or relapsed-refractory hematological malignancies. Laura actively uses the OHDSI tools and the OMOP Common Data Model in her work, and she is a member of various OHDSI working groups.

Laura received a Bachelor of Arts in biology and geography from Dartmouth College, a Master of Science in epidemiology from Johns Hopkins University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in cancer pharmacoepidemiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. At UNC, she was a National Cancer Institute Cancer Care Quality Fellow and focused her research on developing tools for assisting treatment decisions in older adults with slow-growing cancers. She also has held research roles at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and GlaxoSmithKline.
