Nishanth Parameshwar Pavinkurve is a Clinical Research Software Developer at the Department of Biomedical Informatics working with Dr. Karthik Natarajan. While working full-time, Nishanth is also pursuing an MBA at Columbia Business School.
Nishanth’s research focuses on applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to aid in medical research and clinical decision-making. His primary focus is applying various Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques from Topic Modeling to Generative Pre-Trained Transformers (GPT) to analyze Clinical Notes and extract medically relevant information at scale.
He is involved in several software architecture and research projects at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) sponsored All of Us Research Program, the National COVID Cohort Collaborative (N3C) and in-house at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and New York-Presbyterian Hospital. He is also an active participant in the OHDSI NLP working group.
Nishanth graduated with his Master of Science in Computer Science at New York University (NYU) where he focused on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. He completed his Bachelor and Master of Technology degrees in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras.
