Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Dr. habil. med. Martin Sedlmayr
Chair of Medical Informatics, Institute of Medical Informatics and Biometry, TU Dresden
Director of the Center for Medical Informatics, TU Dresden & University Hospital Dresden
CIO of the School of Medicine, TU Dresden
Martin Sedlmayr was appointed to the Chair of Medical Informatics of the Faculty of Medicine Carl Gustav Carus at the Dresden University of Technology in the spring of 2018. He is Director of the Center for Medical Informatics of the University Medical Center Dresden and, together with the CIO of the University Hospital, is responsible for the strategic development in the field of digital medicine. As Scientific Coordinator, he is responsible for establishing the Data Integration Center as an ecosystem for medical research and care.
After studying computer science, he first developed concepts and tools for knowledge and process management in weakly structured and interdisciplinary domains at the Research Institute for Applied Knowledge Processing (FAW, Ulm) and later at the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology (FIT, Sankt Augustin). For more than 20 years he has been active in European and national, multidisciplinary research projects as developer, software architect and coordinator.
The scientific focus of Martin Sedlmayr is on the development of digital medical assistance systems with three primary questions: How can data, information and knowledge be comprehensively accessed and applied contextually? How can innovative technologies be used to build flexible and scalable infrastructures? How can assistive applications be seamlessly integrated into the user’s experience?
