Rina Kagawa

Rina Kagawa is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tsukuba and an Assistant Manager in the Department of Medical Informatics, Strategic Planning, and Management at the University of Tsukuba Hospital. She graduated from Keio University, School of Medicine in Japan and received M.D. and received her Ph.D. in medicine from the University of Tokyo.
Her primary research interests are in the field of medical informatics. Specifically, she is interested in the automated techniques for identifying patients diagnosed with a particular disease based on electronic health records (EHRs), and the quality of text written by clinical experts in EHRs (progress notes) for communication between clinical experts. She is a member of the Japan Society for Artificial Intelligence, and Japan Association for Medical Informatics. She was awarded the Annual Conference Award by the Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence, the Research Encourage Award by Japan Association for Medical Informatics two times, and the Young Poster Award from Young Biophysics Researchers’ Association. She is also a physician and has provided medical care in several hospitals in Japan.
