Brandon Ulrich is the Managing Director of B2i Healthcare (B2i), a boutique software engineering firm specialized in SNOMED CT and healthcare information standards and exchange. Brandon has over 20 years experience as a software engineer and architectural consultant and a broad understanding of eHealth standards and technologies. He has led both closed and open-source tooling projects with national eHealth programs in Europe, Asia and North America and international standards bodies like IHTSDO and HL7. Prior to founding B2i in 2005, Brandon consulted as an architect and performance engineer, helping clients like JPMorgan Chase design and implement large-scale enterprise solutions. He as been continuously active in internet businesses and technologies since founding wigs.com in 1995. Brandon received a B.Sc. in Computer Information Systems from Arizona State University and a Master’s in Business Informatics from the Europa-Universität Viadrina in Germany.
Brandon’s team developed the Snow Owl technology family, which is deployed in over 3,000 locations in 84+ countries worldwide and used by IHTSDO to release the international version of SNOMED CT. The software supports creating cohorts using OHDSI’s Common Data Model and publishing Spark-based analyses of CDM data using Scala and R.
